Toy Story is a computer-animated adventure film directed by John Lasseter and produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It is also the first theatrical feature film to be released by Pixar studios. Toy Story (1995) is not the ordinary tale of toys, and features anthropomorphic toys who make their presence felt and become alive only when there are no humans around. This John Lasseter film features a pull-string cowboy toy named Woody (Tom Hanks) and an astronaut action-figure named Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). Both of them are owned by a little boy named Andy (John Morris). John Lasseter won the 1996 Academy Awards in the Special Achievement Category for Toy Story (1995). It was also nominated for 1996 Oscars in the category of Best Music, Original Song, and Comedy Score.

Toy Story (1995) begins with Andy, a little boy, planning to move to another place with his family. He loves to spend time with his toys, especially Woody, the pull-string cowboy. But when Andy is not with the toys, they all come to life and have a world of their own. However, they are unaware that Andy’s family is having an early birthday celebration. Much to their surprise, they find a new toy amongst the presents. This toy is a presentable and good-looking astronaut called Buzz Lightyear. Woody is jealous and resents Buzz, who unfortunately does not believe that he is a toy. In an attempt to get more attention from Andy, Woody decides to get Buzz out of the way, but the whole plans gets messed up with Buzz getting thrown out of the window.

Other toys do not take kindly to Woody’s act, and he has to come up with some plan to rescue Buzz, but both of them are unfortunately captured by Sid (Erik von Detten), a neighborhood boy known to torture toys for amusement. He also owns a vicious dog called Scud. It is now upon Woody to save Buzz and himself, and not to forget, make Buzz realise that he is not a real astronaut. Toy Story was released by Disney Studios as a DVD in English with English subtitles. The film has a U (Universal) rating.
