Review
------
This book will help to change lives.' Katie Ghose, Chief
Executive, Women's Aid
'This book is so powerful so real, so strong and so emotional --
this is exactly Melanie.'
Geri Horner (née Halliwell)
'Like everybody else, I can't wait to read this book!' Heidi
Klum
'An unflinching account of how an icon of girl power became
utterly powerless in her own life, this brave and important book
deserves to be read by fans and non-fans alike. Utterly absorbing
and deeply affecting.' Joe Stone, The Guardian.
‘This is the most gut wrenching, punch-in-the-stomach honest
celebrity autobiography I’ve ever read. Mel B, with the help of
second-to-none A-list interviewer and her long-time collaborator
Louise Gannon, then takes us to the darkest places behind her
y Spice persona, educating about the true horror of domestic
abuse in the process.’ Dan Wootton, The Sun
‘Shocking, y and ultimately inspiring, Brutally Honest lifts
the lid on 22 years of headlines, making a powerful statement
about complex relationships and their ability to make or break
us, while containing enough Spice Girls tidbits to make fans
rejoice’ Jamie Tabberer, Entertainment Editor of Gay Star News
‘Brutally Honest is just what it says. Melanie Brown's account
of an abusive relationship – of the once fearless y Spice
being made to feel so worthless that she believes suicide is the
only way out – is gripping, shocking and harrowing.’ Simon
Hattenstone, The Guardian
‘If [Melanie] Brown awakens even one reader to the reality of
their situation, her legacy will endure long beyond the second
Spice Girls reunion.’ The Observer Magazine
‘If you think you know what really happened behind the headlines
that have surrounded Melanie Brown for the last 18 months, think
again. Brutally Honest lifts the lid on Mel B’s secret turmoil in
an abusive relationship, her A-list life with the Spice Girls or
in LA with Eddie Murphy, and her at times difficult upbringing.
And while much of the book paints a very different picture to the
y Spice we all thought we knew, by opening up about the
realities of abuse and addiction, Mel B has launched a new, but
equally important, version of Girl Power. Brutally Honest will
grip you from the start.’ Hannah Flint, Celebrity Director,
GRAZIA UK
‘Written with her close friend and journalist Louise Gannon,
it’s a smooth read – she’s not trying to trip you up with
grandiose prose, but instead simply tells her story matter of
factly from her own point of view. Much like a rolling Netflix
series, you find yourself hungrily digesting chapter after
chapter of Melanie’s life in one sitting. Some parts are
hilarious and relatable; others are just painfully difficult to
read.’ Niellah Arboine, Lifestyle Editor, Gal-Dem
‘Brutally Honest is a captivating memoir that candidly discusses
the chain of abuse that still exists for women in society and
what it will take to break it.’ OK! Magazine
