About the Director
------------------
Greg Gricus - Greg Gricus is known for his work on Investigative
Reports (1991), Wild Horse, Wild Ride (2011) and Homeless 99
(1999). Bob Poole - Bob grew up in E. Africa, where his her
was the director of the Peace Corps, and later the director of
the African Wildlife Foundation. Bobs relationship with National
Geographic began when he was a teenager working with a crew who
had come to Kenya to film elephants. After completing a
university degree in science, Bob traveled the world as a camera
assistant before landing his first assignment as a
cinematographer for National Geographic. The film, Coming of Age
with Elephants was about his sister, Dr. Joyce Poole, the
renowned elephant zoologist. Now an Emmy Award winning Director
of Photography, Bob films both people and wildlife and has made a
career in front of the camera as well. His extensive credit list
includes documentaries for PBS, NATURE and NOVA, BBC, over 30
films for Discovery Networks, and an additional 35 plus films for
National Geographic Television. Bob works around the world and
his passion for wildlife conservation has taken him to some of
the African continents most remote locations. Whether tracking
elephants in extreme desert environments of Mali, following
wildebeest across the Serengeti, or traveling road-less regions
of war-torn Sudan, Pooles lifetime experience, and unfailing
tenacity help him to capture remarkable moments. For this he won
an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft:
Cinematography while working on the series Great Migrations for
National Geographic. Dennis Burkhart - As a filmmaker, Dennis
Burkhart has visited such places as Nepal, Alaska, Easter Island,
Kenya, India & Egypt to name a few. His award-winning
photographic images have appeared in scholastic publications and
National Geographic Magazine. Pursuing his love of wilderness
areas has led Dennis to film in over eighty-five national
parks/state often as director of photography for The Travel
Channel. Rodney Chauvin - New Orleans born Rodney Chauvin began
his film studies at University of New Orleans, and upon
graduation he worked his way through the ranks, learning from
noted cinematographers Peter Pau, Jon Herron, Julis Macat and
Jeff Cronenweth. Chauvins Emmy-winning television work includes a
long list of hit shows such as Survivor, The Apprentice and The
Amazing Race just to name a few. He also is in high demand for
documentaries, commercials, music videos and independent
features. In 2010, Chauvin received an Emmy Award for Outstanding
Cinematography on season 20 of Survivor. Known for his stunning
B-Roll images and keen sense of story and character development,
he continues to be one of the most sought-after camera operators
in reality television today. Michael Boland - Boland won a
Primetime Emmy Award (shared with Vic Sarin) for his work on the
1992 episode Strange Relations of the television series
Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World. Mike Dreesman -
Mike is a videographer with 20 years experience specializing in
wildlife, scenics and aerial cinematography. Extensive experience
with HDCAM and RED ONE cameras systems.
