Laalj, Uttar Pradesh, Dabangg is a story of Chulbul Pandey
(Salman Khan), a totally fearless but corrupt officer with
unorthodox working methods. But even the most fearless at times
face a tough fight with their innermost demons. Chulbul has had a
bitter childhood. His her passed away when he was very young
after which his mother Naini (Dimple Kapadia) married Prajapati
Pandey (Vinod Khanna). Together, they had a son Makhanchan
(Arbaaz Khan).
Prajapati favours Makhanchan which does not go down well with
Chulbul. He decides to take control of his destiny and detaches
himself from his stepher and half brother. His sole attachment
is his mother. However after his mother's demise and an
unsuccessful attempt to mend wounds, Chulbul snaps all ties with
his stepher and half brother.
Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha) with her unique perspective of life enters
his world and turns it upside down. Chulbul starts to see life
more positively and also gets sensitized to the value of a
family.
But his detractors especially the dubious Cheddi Singh (Sonu
Sood) have their own vested interests and emerge as spokes in the
wheel, putting one brother against the other. Makhanchan ends up
carrying out acts oblivious to the consequences. When he realizes
he has been used, he turns to Chulbul. Will Chulbul take his
extended hand? Will the brothers be able to thwart their
detractors?
Will this time, Chulbul's fearlessness channelize itself
positively and reunite him with his family? Dabangg is a hard
hitting, entertaining, emotional narrative that unfolds
grippingly in a region that has place only for the fearless.

About the Actor

Born on December 27, 1965 Salman Khan is the son of the
legendary writer Salim Khan, who penned many super-hits in the
yesteryear's like Sholay, Deewar, and Don. Salman started his
acting carrier in 1988 by doing a supporting role in the movie
""Biwi Ho To Aisi"". The following year he came up with his
leading role in the box office romantic hit Maine Pyar Kiya
(1989). From there he became the heart throb of Indian cinema.
Following with other box office hits he showed his terrific
performance in Saajan (1991), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Hum Aapke
Hain Koun...! (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Khamoshi: The Musical
(1996), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). His transformations can be
sensitive, vulnerable, funny, aggressive and charming as his role
demands. In 1998 he was arrested by the local from the
shooting location of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand
United (1999), for killing protected wild animals and spent about
a week behind the bars. The actor is facing trial in three cases
of killing black bucks and chinkaras and another of illegal
possession of arms. In September 2002, Salman Khan had hit the
headlines after he ced his Land Cruiser near the American
Express bakery in Bandra, killing one man and injuring others.
Being in those roguish behaviors he tried to balance his troubled
life with his carrier. In 2003 he gave his emotionally charged
performance as playing an obsessed lover in ""Tere Naam"" that
translated into good reviews and a good run at the box office. He
has not only managed to revive his career, but also to restore
the confidence of his producers and distributors alike. His work
was noticed internationally in the movie Phir Milenge (2004)
where he played the role of an AIDS patient. It was well

About the Director

Abhinav Kashyap is an Indian film director and screenwriter.
Before entering the film industry he worked in Indian television
serials. In 2000 he was involved in writing the script of the
film Jung. He worked as an assistant to film maker Mani Ratnam
for the film Yuva (2004). He also wrote dialogues for the films
Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) and 13B (2009). He made his debut
as a director in the 2010 action film Dabangg. Dabangg released
on 10 September 2010 and met with success, receiving an all-time
blockbuster status.He is all set to make a sequel bindaas,
proposed to be released in 2012.
